Karen Fletcher of Red Rose sentenced for obscenity
September 19, 2008 11:32 am Other obscenity and legal casesNote from Karen Stagliano: Speaking to Karen Fletcher’s lawyer, he reiterated what was said i the article that Ms. Fletcher is a long time agoraphobe. She willingly confines herself to her home, and the thought of leaving her home terrifies her, so a trial or the possibility of going to jail would have been very difficult for her. So she decided that in her case, agreeing to a plea bargain was the best thing for her personally.
If she had gone to trial, it is highly possible that she may not have been convicted, but we will never know.

This country is beyond hope. Everytime a ridiculous law is made, the police blindly carry it out. This woman does not deserve any punishment, whatsoever.

I am empathetic for this woman, however… I’m horrified at the legal precedent set. Indeed, we could apparently be found guilty of obscenity FOR writing about sex between married adults in a dark room, if someone found that to be “pornographic”, it would appear. “I know pornogrpaphy when I see it” is code for, “I won’t make a rule, I’ll make an arbitrary choice concerning your guilt on the fly.” Last time I checked this was supposed to be a country where “freedom of speech” was a hallmark of our government.
Oh, gee, I saw a movie the other night where someone was shot. I don’t like killing. That’s obscene. I should procesute for obscenity; right? After all, it’s illegal to molest children, and it’s illegal to shoot people. Somehow it’s legal to write about shooting people, but it’s not legal to write about molesting children? This makes sense some how? It’s arbitrary and capricious.
I don’t especially relish the idea of facing jail time over obscenity charges, but there is a part of me that would loved to have fought these fuckers all the way to the supreme court.

hell I got locked up, for buying porn in the mail, then selling it to someone else, and the someone else was the fbi. to a state I had never sold anything to except them. even though the disclaimer on the main page said the buyer certifies the material they are ordering is legal in their state. which the F.B.I agreed to. then charged me and drug me to WV. to prosecute me.
HOW IS THAT FOR MESSED UP?
they tell the seller its legal in WV. then turn around and arrest the seller, when they are the ones that committed the crime by placing the order and lying to get it mailed.
side note. the F.B.I. in Indiana, DECLINED to prosecute in 2002,2006 and 2007. which is where I lived.
I said it was entrapment. because the F.B.I. agreed it was legal in WV. AND PLACED AN ORDER FOR IT AND HAD IT MAILED TO WV.
My lawyer said it wasn’t and never made the aguement.
whats next huck finn and tom sawyer again. ?
don’t laugh they did it a few times
They take freedom a little at a time. Pretty soon we’ll be back to banning books.
“tom sawyer and huck finn” (1905 and 1996).
