John Stagliano to appear on Stossel on Fox Business

John Stagliano, the owner of Evil Angel, taped a segment on the subject of the first amendment live in New York for John Stossel’s show Stossel for FOX Business network. The episode will air for the first time at 8pm on Thursday, May 20.

John Stagliano is currently being prosecuted by the federal government in an obscenity trial for the distribution of 2 porn movies and a 3rd trailer for a porn movie. He was indicted in April 2008 and the trial will begin in Washington DC on July 7, 2010. Stagliano faces up to 32 years in prison and millions in fines. For more information on John Stagliano’s trial and several other obscenity cases, go to defendourporn.org.

Also appearing on the show with Stagliano are Judge Andrew Napolitano and Ayaan Hirsi Ali, the author of Infidel. A synopsis of the May 20 episode from the FOX Business site: “Congress shall make no law…” begins the First Amendment. What a concept! Congress should pass NO law. How often do we hear that today? Not often enough. The first amendment goes on to say “Congress shall make no law … abridging the freedom of speech.” What does that mean? That’s what our show is about. Does it mean you can burn the American flag? What about films that depict animal cruelty? Or “obscenity”? Stossel talks to a porn producer facing 32 years in prison for producing fetish films like Milk Nymphos. While we in America may take freedom of speech for granted, it’s important to remember how unique this freedom is. In other countries, hundreds died in riots after a newspaper published cartoons depicting the prophet Mohammed. The Canadian government charged a journalist who published the cartoons with “discrimination.” Most recently, Comedy Central censored a South Park episode that featured Mohammed … while leaving in a scene where Buddha snorts cocaine. A short clip of John Stossel appearing on Fox Business discussing the episode can be watched on the Fox Business website.

John Stossel is the New York Times best-selling author of Give Me A Break and Myths, Lies and Downright Stupidity. His “Give Me a Break” commentaries take a skeptical look at a wide array of issues, such as education, the economy, parenting, and more. His blog can be read here.

The episode of Stossel will air on the Fox Business Network on Thursday at 8pm & 12 midnight ET (5pm & 9pm PT), Saturday at 7 PM and 11 PM, and Sunday at 10 PM.

LAS VEGAS

Media Coverage - U.S. vs. John Stagliano / Evil Angel

Front Page, Press info 1 Comment

I found out about the indictment from a close personal friend, Steve Javors at XBiz. On April 8, 2008, I was at dinner with John and some friends of our family. He had texted me to ask how we were doing, since he had just seen over PR Newswire.com that John had been charged. John and I had no idea what he was talking about, so I called him.

Within minutes, he had filled me in and emailed me the press release from the Justice Department and posted this article - John Stagliano, Evil Angel Charged With 7 Obscenity Violations - the first one about this obscenity case.

We phoned our lawyer, Allan Gelbard, and our general manager, Chris Norman, to fill them in. Noone from the company had been notified of this before the Justice Department sent out their press release.

Shortly thereafter, John received a phone call from Dan Miller at AVN.com, and this article was posted - John Stagliano, Evil Angel Indicted On Federal Obscenity Charges.

That night, John and I didn’t get a whole lot of sleep.
